Lonely Planet review

Located in a warren of off-ramps near the interstate, this is actually one of the few independently-owned hotels in East Memphis. They take care to distinguish themselves from their competition by adding special services and decorative touches.

Don't let the mud-colored bunker look of the exterior put you off. The serene marble lobby is all done up in better earth tones and it's quiet as can be once you get inside. Rooms are more luxurious than you'd expect, with beautiful textiles and shockingly white fluffy pillows. Despite marketing themselves as a 'boutique' establishment, the sleek utilitarianism of the hotel's fitness facilities and business center demonstrate that they actually cater to the traveling corporate client more than the discerning jetsetter. A full breakfast is included and served in the public breakfast room. The hotel makes most sense for those that need to be based in East Memphis or are just passing through, as it's too far from downtown to make sight seeing practical.
