Canter's Deli
Canter's isn't really about the food, though it covers the Jewish deli basics decently, gets high marks for its waffles and even serves full Thanksgiving dinners nightly. It ain't about the service either, which is indifferent on a good day. And it's not about sophistication - they serve Coor's on tap. But it's an LA institution and it's open All. The. Time.

Joan’s on Third
The crowd looks sharp – and vaguely familiar – at this crisp gourmet deli that’s favored by celebs, foodies and those in the know. Order the mozzarella-, basil- and tomato-stuffed baguette, grab a set at the communal table and see who glides past. And please, though you’ll be tempted, don’t press your face against the gelato counter.

Nate & Al’s
At this old-school, ‘You want the pastrami?’ deli, you’ll feel like a local the moment you slide into a worn, rust-colored booth. Dapper seniors, chatty sisters, loud-mouthed stuntmen, and even Larry King – everybody’s stopped by at some point. Loxes, blintzes, omelets, briskets and knishes, served up since 1945.

Cheebo
Cheap and cheerful, this joint makes heaping salads, bulging sandwiches and fabulous organic pizzas sold by the foot. (Inner) kids love the free paper and crayons.
