Lonely Planet review
Charming historic façade aside, there’s nothing fancy about this aging boutique hotel around the corner from the Promenade. Despite the weathered carpeting, rooms are fairly bright and have ceiling fans, wood furnishings and new mattresses; some have sea views. There's only one elevator, but management is fastidious, in a good way.
Our independent authors have visited Hotel Carmel and selected this as one of our recommended boutique hotels in Santa Monica.
