Lonely Planet review

Antiques, hardwood floors and a crackling fireplace make this secluded Victorian B&B on ‘Millionaire’s Row’ a bastion of warmth and romance. The hedge-framed garden feels like a sanctuary, and there’s a pool for cooling off on hot summer days. The Prince Albert room has gorgeous wallpaper and a claw-foot tub. All seven rooms have private baths.

Anna Bissell, the original owner, was the heir to the man who invented the first carpet sweeper – a predecessor to the vaccum cleaner. She became a philanthropist and Albert Einstein once sat at her dining room table. The very one where you'll have breakfast. You'll see at least one vintage sweeper if you look close.

Our independent authors have visited Bissell House B&B and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Pasadena.
