Lonely Planet review
The LA Lakers were down on their luck as of this writing, but the NBA's most successful organization still packs all 19,000 seats on a regular basis. Floor seats, like those filled by the ubiquitous Jack Nicholson, cost in excess of $5000 per game.
Staples is also the home base for the city’s other NBA team, the once mismanaged and now high-flying LA Clippers, a legitimate championship contender thanks to Doc Rivers, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Unfortunately, their 2014 playoff run was derailed by the scandalous Donald Sterling, whose surreptitiously recorded hate speech was well-publicized and reviled far and wide. The WNBA LA Sparks season (late May to August) follows the regular men’s NBA season (October to April). Tickets are sold online and at the Staples Center box office. Parking at the Staples Center costs $20.
