Lonely Planet review for Roxy’s Diner
Every place in Vegas has a gimmick. At this ’50s-style rock ‘n’ roll diner, servers drop everything to perform song-and-dance numbers straight out of Grease. It’s hilarious fun, but it sure does slow service down. Copious comfort food tastes just about right for the prices. Blue-plate specials won’t leave you hungry, and super-thick milkshakes come with silver sidecars, just like when you were a kid.

Searching out a diner experience in Las Vegas, I arrived at the Stratosphere Hotel brimming with expectation. After all, this is Vegas baby! My excitement began to wane with the lackluster greeting the hostess offered as I was seated, and continued on its downhill course throughout the remainder of my time. The service was slow, due in part to the wait staff doing double-duty as 50s singers. The singers were more tired than enthusiastic, and the diner's patrons offered little support for their efforts. I ordered breakfast, which included eggs ordered over-medium. I asked to have them recooked twice, first because they were very undercooked, and secondly because they were overcooked. The manager's graciousness extended to taking only the price of the eggs off my bill. The remainder of the meal which I was able to eat was unremarkable at best. This is a diner to take or leave...
