If nothing else, it's refreshing to have a president who appreciates plate lunches and shave ice. President Obama has enjoyed plate lunches at Waikiki's Rainbow Drive-In

    Where the Locals Eat

    Eat what the locals eat at this walk-up dive not too far from Waikiki. The menu is extensive and has such yummy items as pork chops, loco moco, and all kinds of great stuff you won't see at McDonald's. Don't be afraid to ask what things are. The daily specials are sure to please...if it's the right day, get the beef curry. Ono! There's also a good combo plate with fish, grilled beef rib and other stuff.

    This place is popular with the locals so have someone stake out a spot at the outdoor tables while you order. And expect to have difficulty finding parking if you go at prime lunch hour. It's a great experience, and cheap!

    Favorite Dish: It's all good!
