Lonely Planet review
More than a farmer’s stand, Robert’s is an institution. This is Old Florida at its kitschy best, in love with the Glades and the agriculture that surrounds it. There’s a petting zoo for the kids, live music at night, plenty of homemade preserves and sauces, and while everyone goes crazy for the milkshakes – as they should – do not leave without having the fresh orange juice. It’s the best in the world. What’s up with the funny name? Well, back in the day the namesake of the pavilion was selling his daddy’s cucumbers on this very spot, but no traffic was slowing down for the produce. So a sign was constructed that announced, in big red letters, that Robert was, in fact, here. He has been ever since, too.
