Whittington Beach Park

Whittington Beach Park information

Lonely Planet review

There's no beach here and the ocean is usually too rough for swimming, but honu can sometimes be seen offshore in Honu'apu Bay. They've been frequenting these waters for a long time (Honuʻapo means 'caught turtle' in Hawaiian). The eponymous fishpond is at the north end of the bay.

Camping at the beach park requires a county permit. The park's proximity to the highway means little privacy, but the shady campsites and picnic pavilions make it a pretty choice spot. There's no potable water here.

The turnoff to Whittington Beach Park is 1 mile beyond the scenic lookout.
