The store also sells cowboy hats and souvenir T-shirts. Say howdy to the life-sized wooden cowboys on the front porch carved by a former ranchhand.

A real find on a side street between the beach and the highway, Eskimo Candy is essentially a fish market with a take-out counter and a couple of tables. Delicious fresh 'ahi and Kula veggie wraps, decent fish tacos and excellent poke .

For a local favorite bursting in Hawaiian flavor, order either the 'opakapaka or the onaga (mild-tasting red snapper) sautéed in coconut milk and served with grilled bananas. When the beachside tiki torches are lit at dinner the scene is oh-so-romantic. Mama's is at Ku'au Cove, along the Hana Hwy, 2 miles east of Pa'ia center. Reservations are essential.
