Kenji's House information
Kapaʻau native Kenji Yokoyama (1931–2004) is remembered for his seashell 'art.' An avid free diver and constant recycler and repairer, he collected rocks, driftwood and shells and glued them together into little sculptures. While not fine art, when viewed en masse in his lifetime abode they're original, fanciful, earnest and quite memorable. The exhibit, called Kenji's Room: A Mini Museum, is part of the overall Kenji's House site, which includes Pico's Bistro and the North Kohala Artists Cooperative Gallery.
