Lonely Planet review for Eden Alley

Healthy eating never tasted better. The 'ultimate grilled cheese sandwich' is a work of art with four cheeses bubbling under an aioli sauce. Other options handle every variation on veggie eating and range from salads to falafel.

Truly An Eden For Veggie Eaters

    amayfaire recommends this,

Though it is located in the basement of Kansas City's Unity Temple on the Plaza, Eden Alley is anything but a church basement cafeteria. This is the kind of place where you can roam around, put up your feet, and spend a breezy afternoon with friends, filled with the work of local artists and local farms. All the ingredients at Eden Alley are seasonal, local and organic, so you always have the freshest meal possible. Carnivores should try the sandwiches or the different main course loaves- always inventive, and always fantastic. My meat eating partner likes the Sweet Potato Burrito or the Spinach Grinder. Veg folks are going to wish they lived next door- Eden Alley has a great menu of salads, sandwiches, meals, breads and soups. The Chef's Choice salad- brown rice, feta, hummus, and greens- is phenomenal and filling. If it is on the menu when you're there, have the smoked brie and fruit appetizer. Try the Pick 3 on the weekends, and for a really great deal go for the weekend brunches, they are out of this world. And make sure you have the homemade bread with olive oil from the beginning- its free, and goes perfectly well with your herbal tea or restaurant speciality juices.

Want to know what's on the menu? Go to Eden Alley's website, and join the listserv. You'll get the weekly menu and seasonal specials right in your inbox. And browse through the book and gift store right in the restaurant, especially if you're on a spiritual journey that paused for a meal. The Good Book specializes in spiritual and religious books from all traditions, as well as one of a kind gifts.
