BB's
Part blues club, part blues museum, there's good music most nights in this glossy two-level joint. Good bar food includes legendary sweet potato fries. Beale, right across the street, is also a great blues venue.

Foundry
From the vast terrace to the retro-industrial interior, the Foundry is a factory of fun. There's a huge drinks and beer selection plus an ever-intriguing menu of stylish pub vittles. On weekends it seems like half of KC is here, so order two drinks at a time – and two of the oddly addictive soft pretzels.

Zoo Bar
The raw-edged antidote to the artifice of the nearby Power & Light District. Shoot some pool, shoot off your mouth, write something stronger than 'shoot' on the highly entertaining bathroom walls. Characters are more common than bottlecaps on the floor and soon you'll be one of them.
