Getting there & around
The Greyhound bus station (217-544-8466; 2351 S Dirkson Pkwy), southeast of downtown, has frequent connections to St Louis ($20 to $25, 1½ hours) and Chicago ($29 to $38, 4½ hours).
The downtown Amtrak station (217-753-2013; cnr 3rd & Washington Sts) has five daily trains to/from St Louis ($12 to $22, two hours) and Chicago ($17 to $31, 3½ hours).
