Lonely Planet review for Peninsula

Malaysian dishes - including achat (tangy vegetable salad in peanut dressing), red curry hot pot, spicy crab and fish in banana leaves - rock the palate in this contemporary restaurant.

My favorite restaurant on Eat Street!

    deborahnstpaul recommends this,

The Peninsula is a lovely Malay+Asian restaurant on Nicolette Avenue, aka "Eat Street" in Minneapolis. Last week I took my sister (visiting from NZ) and a bunch of other women in the family (12 of us total) and had a scrumptious time trying all kinds of appetizers, entrees, and drinks. Our hands-down favorite is the chili squid. The Indian-style rotis have green pepper and egg and are accompanied by a small dipping bowl of curry chicken. The only dish I've ever tried there that I didn't care for was their Buddhist yam pot - a crisp fried taro nest filled with shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, snow peas, baby corn, & cashews. An unexpected treasure - their mango and pineapple stuffed dishes. They really come prepared inside of the fresh fruit - not slathered in sugared sauce. Don't be surprised to have your dish appear wrapped in a fresh banana leaf - its one of their flavoring secrets. Recently the restaurant added acoustic panels on the ceiling - helps cut down on the noise level. The restaurant is spacious and warm with simple bright decor on light wood. Its not cheap but is a great bargain compared to other upscale Asian restaurants in the Twin Cities.
