Getting there & around
Three ferry companies operate out of both Mackinaw City and St Ignace – Arnold Line (800-542-8528; www.arnoldline.com), Shepler’s (800-828-6157; www.sheplersferry.com) and Star Line (800-638-9892; www.mackinacferry.com) – and charge the same rates: round-trip adult/child 5-12/bicycle $21/10.50/7.50. The ferries run several times daily from May to October; Arnold Line runs longer, weather permitting. The trip takes 15 minutes. Once you’re on the island, horse-drawn cabs will take you anywhere, or you could rent a bicycle.
