The Indianapolis International Airport (IND; 317-487-7243; www.indianapolisairport.com) is 7 miles southwest of town. The No 8 Washington bus runs between the airport and downtown ($1.25, 30 minutes). A cab to downtown costs $20 to $22.

Greyhound (317-267-3076; www.greyhound.com) shares Union Station (350 S Illinois St) with Amtrak. Megabus (877-462-6342; www.megabus.com/us) stops at 200 E Washington St. Both go to Cincinnati ($10 to $22, 2½ hours) and Chicago ($20 to $35, 3½ hours).

Avis, Hertz and other rental agencies have offices at the airport and around town. The Transportation chapter has contact details.

IndyGo (317-635-3344; www.indygo.net; fare $1.25) runs the local buses. No 17 goes to Broad Ripple. Free Blue Line and Red Line shuttles circle the downtown sights. Service is minimal at weekends.

Amtrak (317-263-0550; www.amtrak.com) chugs into Union Station (350 S Illinois St). One train daily goes to Chicago ($16 to $32, 4½ hours), and three trains weekly go to Cincinnati ($17 to $30, three hours) and Washington, DC ($82 to $150, 18 hours).
