Lonely Planet review for Indiana Medical History Museum
The Indiana Medical History Museum, a guide leads visitors through century-old pathology labs. The highlight, especially for zombies, is the room full of brains in jars. There's also a healing herb garden to walk through.

Brilliant for medical, social, and history buffs alike

We went there a Friday afternoon, and I tell you, the low price is perfect! The labs and equipment are as if the researchers just left the room. We got up close to microscopes, looking at actual tissue and slides from the past century. The guides will give you a personal tour, and obviously hold the old place close to their hearts.
Yes, there is a room full of brains, but it is fascinating! they are labeled not only with what ailment the person had, but also the Original diagnosis that the doctors of the time gave.
The wealth of information is enough to make any academic drool, but non-brainiacs can also enjoy looking at the odd implements, tools, 'body freezers,' wheelchairs, and even a, infant-sized iron lung.
The doctor's office building is a great snapshot of a 1972 rural office, brought as it was left to the museum.
Such a great find this place is, we plan to go again!
