Cleveland

Getting there & around

Eleven miles southwest of downtown, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE; 216-265-6030; www.clevelandairport.com) is linked by the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Red Line train ($1.75). A cab to downtown costs about $28.

Fromdowntown, Greyhound (216-781-0520; 1465 Chester Ave) offers frequent departures to Chicago ($48 to $55, 7½ hours) and New York ($59 to $72, 13 hours). Megabus (877-462-6342; www.megabus.com/us) also goes to Chicago, often for lower fares; it departs from the corner of W 3rd St and W Huron Rd.

Parking is scarce and expensive downtown during events. Avis, Hertz and other rental agencies have offices at the airport and around town. Check the Transportation chapter for contact details.

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA; 216-621-9500; www.gcrta.org; 1240 W 6th St) operates the useful Red Line train that goes from downtown to Ohio City and University Circle. Fares are $1.75; day passes are $3.50.

Amtrak (216-696-5115; 200 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway) runs once daily to Chicago ($47 to $92, seven hours) and New York City ($64 to $126, 11½ hours).
