Lonely Planet review for Cincinnati Museum Center
Two miles northwest of downtown, the Cincinnati Museum Center occupies the 1933 Union Terminal, an art-deco jewel still used by Amtrak. The interior has fantastic murals made of Rookwood tiles. The Museum of Natural History (adult/child three to 12 years $8/6) is mostly geared to kids, but it does have a limestone cave with real bats inside. A history museum, Omnimax theater and children's museum round out the offerings. Discounted combination tickets are available. Parking costs $5.

If you can only go one place in Cincinnati, go here...
codgerette recommends this,
A photographer friend of mine was in Cincinnati for a business conference and trade show, and we only had a couple of hours together before she had to catch a plane. As we drove up to the place, her jaw dropped. When we got inside, she couldn't believe she had never heard of this place.
This truly is an art deco masterpiece--I always think it looks a little like someone left their giant radio out on the edge of the city as they fled the great flood of 1937. (The building was completed in 1931.)
There's a bus that goes from downtown to the museum center and other tourist attractions. If you only have a little time, skip the other tourist attractions on that bus. If you only have a little money, you won't have to pay museum admission to have a great time.
One of the very best freebies here are the free weekend afternoon "Rotunda tours" where you get to go into lots of places, including the balcony overlooking the rotunda, and the exquisitely appointed executive suite. This is one I could do over and over. No reservation required, just show up on a weekday afternoon.
Another good freebie here is the Cincinnati Railroad Club's exhibit in Tower A. In addition to breathtaking model railroad work, there's a the kind of view of a busy railhead that is one of those things that's a lot more interesting than it sounds. Get access Th 8-11 P; Weekends noon-4. The club itself meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30P in Tower A.
The loving restoration of this place makes me proud to pay taxes to support it!
