Walt Disney World hotels and hostels

Disney resort hotels are divided according to location, and Disney-provided transportation to that location is indicated in the hotel details below. It is important to take note of what transport is available to/from your chosen resort when planning your trip, as you can use Disney transportation to reach any attraction from any resort but not everything is directly connected.

Prices vary drastically according to season, and there are 20 (yes, 20!) different seasons; to further complicate it, deluxe resorts can have upwards of 10 different 'room types' that vary according to location and amenities, and rooms that sleep five or more aren't necessarily more expensive than suites. There's an easy-to-use chart at www.disneyworld.disney.go.com that describes the exhausting selection of room options at each resort, and a drop-down menu that gives exact prices for each season. Prices given here are for value/peak weekends; note that weekdays will be a bit less. Most rooms sleep up to five, with no extra charge for children; check the website for details on concierge-level rooms.

While deluxe resorts are the best Disney has to offer, don't expect the same bang for your buck as you'd get elsewhere. They do, however, offer multiroom suites (many with bunk-bed options), upscale restaurants, children's programs and incredibly easy access to theme parks. You're paying for convenience and Disney theming, not luxury. Epcot resorts offer easy walking access and boat transport to restaurants and entertainment at Disney's Boardwalk, Hollywood Studios and Epcot, while Magic Kingdom resorts are an easy boat or monorail ride to its gates. If you have little ones, you'll want to stay at a Magic Kingdom resort.

In a category all its own, Shades of Green Resort sits within Walt Disney World but is owned by the Armed Forces Recreation Center. Only active and retired members of the US Armed Services (including members of the National Guard) and their widows and widowers can stay here, and rates are divided into three categories determined according to rank.
