Seafood restaurants in Sarasota

  1. Marina Jack's Restaurant

Anchoring the marina is this well-loved multilevel, multivenue eatery that offers something for everyone, but most especially that quintessential harbor-at-sunset ambience. Be serenaded by steel drums in the relaxed downstairs cafe and lounge, with expansive outdoor seating, tropical cocktails and an easy-on-the-wallet menu. The Bayfront dining room upstairs positions every formally laid table before curving, two-story windows and serves upscale surf-and-turf; make reservations.

  2. Turtles

This fun and casual Siesta Key spot (at the southern end of the key) has prime water views, an outside deck from which to drink them in and very good fish and seafood dishes. Try the snapper or grouper - prepared almost every way imaginable.

  3. Moore's Stone Crab

At the northern tip of Longboat Key, informal Moore's is a destination for one thing only: fresh, delectably sweet stone crab. They only serve it in season (October through March). It's an annual pilgrimage. Everything else is strictly standard.

  4. Lobster Pot

At this charmingly unpretentious lobster shack, walls and ceilings are crammed with nautical hoo-ha, and tables are spread with red-and-white-checked oilcloth. So don't worry about making a mess as you crack open crustaceans and slurp bisque and chowder. Lunchtime lobster rolls are the bomb. No reservations; dinner waits can be long.
