  1. A

    Yuca

This was one of the first Nuevo Latino hotspots in Miami, and it’s still going strong, even if locals say it has lost a little luster over the years. Maybe, but the Yuca rellena (a mild chili stuffed with truffle-laced mushroom picadillo) and the tender guava ribs, still make our mouth water.

  2. B

    Mi Rinconcito Mexicano

The Mexican clientele here is the surest sign of quality, but if you need more evidence, try the tampinquena (steak with enchiladas and green sauce) or pollo mole (chicken in mole), authentic but cheap Mexican that beats the hell out of your run-of-the-mill burrito.

  3. C

    Zona Fresca

The food may come quickly at this jumpin’ highway stop, but Zona is no fast-food joint. Follow the local hipsters inside for cheap, fresh and delicious Mexican eats, such as grilled-veggie or shrimp burritos, taco combo plates and tostada salads, washed down with Mexican beer.

  4. D

    Salsa Loca

Across the Keys, everyone from bartenders to developers to fishermen is swearing by the Mexican food at this colorful spot, with its tropical-night-and-tequila-scented backyard patio. Of course, the bucket-deep margaritas probably improve everyone’s impression of the place.

  5. Rosita’s

There’s a more working-class Mexican crowd here, testament to the sheer awesomeness of the tacos and burritos. In fact, Rosita’s tacos have been voted best in the Greater Miami area by the Miami New Times in the past; they were certainly tasty when we visited.
