A Little Declaration…Hogsmeade and Butterbeer Rocked My Socks
Blog: A Little Adrift - A RTW Travelogue - 10 February 2011
I’m going to shuck off my mantle of sophistication here on A Little Adrift to admit I’m a Harry Potter geek. When the book series first gained popularity I poo-pooed the trend and refused to join the masses in the Harry Potter craze. Then my best friend handed me book one with pointed instructions to “shut my face and just read the book;” at that point book three, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, had just come out. Fast forward a mere three years and in 2003 I just so ...

Universal Studios for Thrill Seekers. Not.
Blog: Family Friendly Hotel, Resort, Suite Reviews: Travel Savvy Mom » blog - 3 May 2010
Sometime between the age of 13 and 30 I lost my taste for horror films, heights, and thrill rides. One day I was merrily jumping out of planes and munching popcorn through Friday the 13th Part VII and the next day I was a complete and total chicken.

Enjoying Walt Disney World Without the Rides
Blog: Ciao Bambino! - 21 April 2010
I shudder to think how many years ago it was that I took my first standardized test, but I recall the first question like it was yesterday: “A zoo without animals is like a library without _____.” I run this one by my kids every now and then to see if I can divert their attention from the television. After they shout out “Books! Give us another one!” I sometimes wonder how they’d respond if the second half of that question was “like Walt Disney World without _____,” because in my family, at least, “rides” has not always been the knee-jerk answer.

What’s Better Than Gatorland? Not much.
Blog: Family Friendly Hotel, Resort, Suite Reviews: Travel Savvy Mom » blog - 10 April 2010
It's easy to get overstimulated in Orlando---I should know. I recently spent a whirlwind 72 hours running from park to park, laughing, cheering, squealing, and screaming my face off. Was it fun? Yeah, but it was exhausting too. And you know what the highlight was? Gatorland.

Can You Enjoy Walt Disney World When You Hate Theme Parks?
Blog: Have Baby Will Travel - 8 December 2009
Ummmm – the answer is yes. I usually can’t stand places that are geared specifically toward “family fun”. I [...]
