I recently went to Johnson's Diner for breakfast. When I walked in, I was surprised by its very simple decor. But what Johnson's Diner lacks in decor, I knew it make up for in its food. The menu at Johnson's Diner includes not only chicken and waffles but also other soul food favorites, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, collard greens, green beans. After studying the menu, I decided on the three chicken wings and a waffle with two side’s meal. For my two sides, I choose the macaroni and cheese and the collared greens. While waiting for my food, I got a chance to enjoy the jazz music playing over the speakers. It wasn't to busy at the time, there was only few patrons including myself, so the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. 

Before I knew it my food was being served. It almost looked to good to eat; the first thing I decide to try was the waffle. The waffles were a nice size and pour a nice amount of the butter - pecan syrup on it. The waffles were tasty and fresh, and the syrup really complimented it. The chicken wings were meaty and crispy, I even dip the wings into some of the syrup and it was really surprisingly good. Chicken and waffles may be seen like an odd combo but really is interplay of salty and sweet. I had heard nothing but good things about Johnson's Diner macaroni and cheese, and the minute I took a bite, I fell in love! The macaroni and cheese was so good and is only second to my own mac and cheese! It was creamy and cheesy and just overall delicious. The collard greens were fresh and had bits of bacon and ham hock in it. For dessert I had the peach cobbler, which is was very good. It was nice and warm and would taste even better on a nice cold winter day.
