Menger Bar
More than 100 years ago, Teddy Roosevelt recruited Rough Riders from this bar that, incidentally, was a replica of the House of Lords Pub in London. To complete the image, picture a mounted moose head, scant lighting and lots of wood. There probably won't be a local in sight, but the history alone makes it a worthwhile stop.

Max's Wine Dive
A swanky retro vibe, serious comfort food and good wines by the glass make this one of the best places to get your Washington Ave bar-hopping off to a swinging start. If you don't find the slogan, 'Fried chicken and champagne? Why the hell not?' déclassé, you'll like it here.

Second Street Brewery
Santa Fe’s favorite brewery is the perfect spot to stop for a pint after a long hike. It serves handcrafted English-style beers – brewed on the premises – and also offers a hearty selection of better-than-average pub grub. Sit outside on the big patio, or inside the brewery. There’s live music nightly.

Rat City Rollergirls
The Rat City Rollergirls are Seattle’s roller derby league, and if you’ve never seen a roller derby bout, you shouldn’t miss it. The league includes four teams, all female, competing in flat-track roller-skate races that can end up getting more violent than hockey matches. These girls are intense, and it’s a ton of fun to watch. Home games are at Key Arena, with after-parties at the Funhouse.
