Lonely Planet review

Traveling with horse? Stop for the night at Echo Basin Ranch, an affordable unstructured dude ranch. The A-frame cabin accommodation is very cool (as long as you don’t mind rustic, and by that we mean basic). We love the pitched roof and big windows – very Rocky Mountain high.

The deluxe cabins are not posh, but plenty comfortable, with multiple rooms and more artistic decor. There is a two-night minimum to stay here, and it is much cheaper (and in scale with what you pay for, amenities-wise) if you stay at least four nights. Dogs are welcome, and horses stay for $10 per night. The ranch offers a host of activities, from guided horseback riding to a putting green. The on-site restaurant and saloon mean you don’t have to drive to eat. Echo Basin is about 7 miles from Mancos.

Our independent authors have visited Echo Basin Ranch and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Mancos.
