Lonely Planet review for Andalous

Artifacts and pictures of the homeland color the atmosphere at Chicago’s best Moroccan joint, where the tangines (a North African dish prepared in a clay pot) are remarkable. The Meknes tangine – filled with marinated chicken, and accented with red olives and lemon zest – was among the highlights, as was the hareera, a savory lentil soup with a keen blend of chili-powder, cilantro, cumin and chickpeas.

North Africa uptown, and down the hatch

    danndeemann1 recommends this,

This family-run restaurant has been around for years and its popularity never ceases to wane. Dine in this cosy, split-level enclave collaged in morrocan landscapes and hookah pipes and you'll see why. Authentic dishes like the kabuli palow are a knock-out - glossy brown rice spiked with caraway seeds, caramelised carrot, sultanas and almonds and served with lamb or spicy potato. The tangy coriander and garlic dip gets the tastebuds singing, while the beef korma chalow is fragrant and moist, undulating in just the right amount of amber oil. Spices are mild but robust throughout, showcased especially well in the mushroom korma chalow. Bookings are recommended, especially on weekends.
Rush in, and stay awhile..I did.
