Lonely Planet review for Italian Village

Of the three restaurants under the one roof, two are worth your while: the namesake Village, and Vivere. The former is decorated with the facades and twinkling lights of an Italian hill town - campy but cute - and has a menu of time-honored pasta and meat dishes that come soaked in traditional sauces. Vivere is the more creative cousin downstairs, offering a wine list some 1500 bottles strong, with bold flavors and bigger price tags.

    Touristy mecca

    styme does not recommend this,

With so many great restaurants in Chicago, don't waste your time here. This tourist staple has been around forever, and is always busy. We went with a group of 8. Only 1 person even finshed their entree. The food is not horrible, it just isn't good. Very Blah. And in this city, to do Italian so poorly should be a sin. Think the Olive Garden, but with 60 year old waiters and a higher price tag. They do have a great wine list and the location is great (center of the loop).
