Lonely Planet review for Lou Mitchell’s

A relic of old Route 66 (it’s located a few blocks west of the road’s starting point), Lou’s coffee shop brings in elbow-to-elbow tourists for breakfast. The omelets hang off the plates, and the fluffy flapjacks and crisp waffles are prepared with practiced perfection. Cups of coffee are bottomless, just like the charm of the old-school waiters, who hand out free treats (doughnut holes, ice cream, Milk Duds) to young and old alike.

    A must!

    sydney325 recommends this,

I love this place! I make it a point to eat here any time I'm in Chicago. They've got the best scrambled eggs and coffee I've ever had in a restaurant. They also make their own bread, bakery items, and orange marmalade (I never leave empty-handed). The prices are good considering the amount of food you get. They're also very accommodating to travelers with space for your luggage, and they're only a block from Union Station. Lou Mitchell's is a must!!
