Introducing Wellington
Known for port (including a white) and meaty, chewy reds, Wellington (707-939-0708; www.wellingtonvineyards.com; 11600 Dunbar Rd, Glen Ellen; tastings $5) makes damn good zinfandel, one from vines planted 1892 - wow, what color! The noir de noir is a cult favorite. The tasting room is inside out, though: the servers have vineyard views, while you face the warehouse. Bottles cost $15 to $30; annual production 8000 cases.
