Lonely Planet review for Stearns Wharf
The southern end of State St gives way to Stearns Wharf , a rough wooden pier with a few snack and souvenir shops. Built in 1872 by John Peck Stearn, it's the oldest continuously operating wharf on the West Coast. During the 1940s it was owned by Jimmy Cagney and his two brothers. Partly destroyed by a 1998 fire, it has now been restored. Parking is available for around US$2 per hour, with the first 90 minutes free with validation.

Great Family Fun!
jackstone recommends this,
I love the sterns wharf! It is so hard not to venture here when you are in town. It is the signature spot in town! SO many great restaurants and shops on the wharf too, as well as the Sea Center. It is great for kids and parents alike! I highly recommend it if you are even remotely close to Santa Barbara. I loved that my hotel was close to it too! I stayed at the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). So inexpensive and close to everything fun in town!
