Next to Segerstrom Center, South Coast Rep was started by a band of plucky theater grads in the 1960s and has evolved into a multiple Tony Award–winning company. It's managed to hold true to its mission to ‘explore the most urgent human and social issues of our time’ with groundbreaking, original plays from fall through to spring.
The county's main performance venue is home to the Pacific Symphony, Philharmonic Society of Orange County and Pacific Chorale and draws international performing-arts luminaries and Broadway shows, in three main theaters. Check the website for the wide-ranging calendar.
