  2. B

    Smoke House

Surrender helplessly to your inner carnivore at this Industry hangout of the old-school variety. Bob Hope and Bing Crosby were early fans, and today George Clooney, Kevin Costner and other big wigs continue to enjoy potent Bloody Marys and yummy cuts of aged steaks and prime rib. Whatever you order, don't miss out on the legendary garlic bread. Famous Sunday brunch, too.

    Jack's Grill

This funky little old-time place is popular with locals (and curious visitors who wonder what all the fuss is about). All the fuss is about steak - big, thick, charbroiled chunks of it. Regulars start lining up for dinner at 16:00, when cocktail hour begins. There are no reservations, so it easily takes an hour for seating… hey, no wait at the bar.

  4. D

    Parkway Grill

Meat-lovers will be in pig heaven at this very smart, grown-up restaurant in a historic brick building with a cool 1920s Chicago bar. Get an order of flatbread sprinkled with blue cheese, pears and walnuts while pondering the virtues of the mesquite-grilled filet mignon over the cedar-plank salmon with honey-truffle glaze. Hard to go wrong here.

  5. Branding Iron

This old roadhouse has been spruced up a bit for the tour buses, but folks still love the place for its hearty steak platters and Western atmosphere. Presiding over the dining room is 'Old Blue,' a massive stuffed bull's head from a local dairy farm.

Pull a bottle from the wine vault and then char your favorite cut of steak, chicken or fish on the open grills in this retro-Vegas dining room.

  7. Irene's Cafe

In the hip Tower District, Irene's is popular for its chicken-fried steaks (made with Angus beef), whopping 9oz burgers and veggie burgers. Its trendy atmosphere comes off as friendly rather than hip and the place does three meals a day.

  8. O.H.'s Townhouse

Pick your own meat from the display case at Eureka's best steakhouse, which hasn't changed a whit since 1978 (think wood-veneer paneling). The mushy veggies are awful, but the steaks are delish.

Here's an intimate waterfront spot. The views are spectacular, especially at sunset, and the food (steaks and chops served with a Continental flair) is nearly equal.
