Leaving San Diego for Grand Teton / Yellowstone on Tuesday, July 25 (possibly Wed. 26). The drive will take 17-18 hours. I'm looking for anyone(s) that might be interested in joining me for day hikes/campground and all else that will be entailed between the following times: July 27/28 - August 1/2.
I added the post below to my original one but I don't think anyone's looking at that anymore ;-)
I've been busily researching and planning and I have our final itinerary for overnights - except for one. I just need some help with fine tuning the routes we might take to get to each stop.
NYC - 4 nights (all organised)
NYC - Great Barrington, MA. Drive through western CT and MA.
QUESTION - We were planning on taking HWY 7 but it is worth taking the small roads and…
I will be driving from Fairbanks to Anchorage at October 3th, after spending 1 week in Alaska. On my one way to Fairbanks I will drive at the regular George Parks Hwy.
On my way back, I was thinking about driving though Richardson Hwy. I've heard is the wilder and more beautful way. But it seems a little too empty. I mean, are there any cities on the way where I can fuel my tank, or have a snack? Would recommend using this way? Is it safe?
Also, would you recommendo using an AWD…
I bought a cheap flight into Bangor over Columbus Day weekend. Unfortunately we arrive quite late (10:30pm) and leave quite early (7am) a few days later.
I'm planning to drive straight to MDI the first night and am debating whether to stay there until the last night before the 7am flight. Google estimates a 1h15 drive to/from Southwest Harbor.
I'd much prefer to stay in MDI of course but am leaning towards getting a hotel near the airport, in which case:
• What are the closest car…
Millions of people travel to Sin City every year with the slogan of "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" fresh on their lips. We have been to Las Vegas at least a half-dozen times over the years and we have had some great and some not so great experiences while we were there. Obviously, the city is known for its over-the-top casinos, star headlining shows, and celebrity chef restaurants. If you decide to make the trip to Las Vegas, here are a few suggestions that we have to hopefully make your…
I was confirmed yesterday with a business trip to Las Vegas for a few days mid August and would like to add some days and visit the Great Canyon and things around.
Making a first search I come to places like Page (Antylope Canyon, Bryce, Zion, ...), which it looks like I could cover in some days (I plan to rent a car).
I know its high season and I am very close to the dates, but I find accomodation really expensieve (specially in Page).
Any ideas and options of accomodation that maybe is…
We have approximately two days to get from Anchorage to Seaward to catch our Cruise. What's the best way to see this stretch? Cars are expensive one way it seems. Any other ideas? Is taking a train viable for really seeing the land?
