Hi. Is it worth it to rent a car in Juneau, or would it make more sense to just walk and take taxi cabs? We'll be there for five days, spending a bit of time being tourists in town and a good amount of time going on day hikes and being active in a low-key, vacationy way. At first, the rental car seemed like a good way to do excursions outside the city, but upon hearing that the city is basically cut off from the rest of the world, I'm thinking that such a plan might not be an option (aside from…

What do you do when you fall in love with a place? You go there again and again. And that is what we did! This was our third trip to Alaska. After lot of planning around the dates and routes, we came up with an itinerary that allowed us enough time to explore and capture each place through the lens. This was a 7 day trip and we prepared ourselves to drive a lot.
Our trip started with flying to Anchorage from LA, then a drive to Denali National Park followed by a trip to Valdez with a stop over at…

Wisconsin in August

We are 3 adults and one 17 year old traveling with 3-4 days in Wisconsin. We'll start in Chicago (we'll be there for 4 days) and leaving from Milwaukee. Have heard of the 1,000 lakes of Wisconsin and that sounds lovely. We're looking for outdoor activities (kayaking/canoeing), swimming, easy hiking (the 17 yr old is disabled). Fun events/fairs would also be great. Unique lodgings and/or resort recommendations appreciated. Thanks.

If you are traveling to Washington DC via National Airport (DCA), then you should be aware that the Metrorail lines that service the airport will have breaks in them in July. Starting July 5, service will be cut at Braddock Road station (Alexandria, VA) for a week. That is south of the airport; if you're going to DC, it won't affect you, except for longer intervals between trains. Starting July 18, the break will be at Pentagon station, which is between the airport and DC. There will be…
