Heavy-duty Chicago-style pizza's are the specialty here, but the thin-crust pizzas are just as good, if not better. Expect a long wait for a table.

    This place is really famous

    Incredibly popular with locals, always stuffed to the gills, and pretty delicious pizza. It's so well-loved that the walls are covered with Zachary's fan art, the best works of which are selected in a yearly competition.

    Zachary's is smack-dab in the middle of the upscale Rockridge neighborhood, but this is by no means a fancy joint. It's loud and crowded, as it is very popular with families and groups. It's not the cheapest pizza in Oakland but you get what you pay for - fresh ingredients and interesting toppings like pesto and chicken. The thin crust is superb, but you can also order thick if you like. Thankfully, the waiters and cooks work their asses off, so you won't be waiting forever despite the long line that inevitably develops out front at dinner time.
