Getting there & away
Dunsmuir is right off I-5, 8 miles south of Mt Shasta City and 6 miles north of Castle Crags. The Amtrak station (800-872-7245; www.amtrak.com; 5750 Sacramento Ave) is the only train stop in Siskiyou County and is not staffed. You can buy tickets for the north-south Coast Starlight on board the train, but only after making reservations by phone or via the website.
