So many posts request the impossible - that a bunch of people who have never met you magically intuit how much you have to spend and what will make you happy on vacation, generally planning out your route for three months and helping you get discount flight reservations.
So, what can you do to get great travel advice?
1. Do your homework
The web is filled with basic information like how far it is from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, or how to…
Going to Miami for a super short visit, mainly to watch a couple of NBA matches. Where do you guys suggest I go to find cheap electronics like an iphone? Also any outlet for NIKE or Adidas?
According to the Rails-to-Trails magazine (Winter 2016), planning for the Greater Yellowstone Trail is underway:
“The Greater Yellowstone Trail is a proposed 180-mile, non-motorized, multi-use trail system that will pass through three states, a handful of wildlife refuges and state parks, and endless tracts of US Forest Service land. My husband is in The States on a visa waiver from the UK and is entitled to say until Jan 2016 .

I am going to NY for Christmas, I have never been there before and know all the tourist stuff we need to see. But does any of you have any "hidden treasures" or other things that is fun to see? Also, where can I eat a good chrismas dinner? Do any of you know a cozy place? :)
I am attending a conference near Boulder Co. in January 2016 so we (a couple) will fly to Las Vegas the day after Christmas and travel by car to Boulder. The trip will be a good 2 weeks and then a week in Boulder for the conference (I tend to skip a lot so suggestions to Boulder are appreciated). I have a few specific questions and as the schedule is more or less set but not carved in stone we are open for any suggestions. We travel a lot, and have one hiking vacation a year either in the Alps…
Our family with 2 young kids is heading out to Death Valley (Furnace creek campground) tomorrow to camp for 4 nights. We have camped at 25F comfortable in a 3 season tent in the past. The temp is going to drop to 19F. Trying to get a realistic idea how old is it going to feel. How windy is it going to be around 10pm (that's the time we are going to arrive and set up the tent). Is there going to be black ice? Is it too cold to swim in the furnace creek hot spring pool in this weather?
I can't seem to find this information anywhere. I have phoned the Embassy in Australia, they said call the US Customs Border and Protection (who I skyped and after going through their menu twice, I could never get it to connect to a human, even during their DC business hours).
Travelling on an Australian passport, I have booked three flights (through Momomdo and various 3rd party booking agencies):
Brisbane - Honolulu (Jetstar)
Honolulu - L.A. (Allegiant Air)
L.A - Bogota (Colombia) via Fort…
