Post Ranch Inn

The last word in luxurious coastal getaways, the legendary Post Ranch pampers guests with lodgings that feature slate spa tubs, private decks, fireplaces, and even walking sticks for those coastal hikes. There are 40 individual units, but you'd be forgiven for thinking you were the only guests here. Ocean-facing rooms have the best view on the Central Coast, while the non-view tree houses have a bit of sway supplied by your own motion. One sour note: the staff can be stiff and standoffish. Non-millionaires can take a free half-hour tour on weekdays at 14:00. The inn is just under a mile south of the Big Sur Bakery & Restaurant.
