Lonely Planet review for Albatross

A block north of University Ave, Albatross is one of the most inviting and friendly pubs in the entire Bay Area. Some serious darts are played here, and poker games and Trivial Pursuit will be going on around many of the worn out tables.

    Darts + Games + Popcorn + Beer = Good Time

    Smoking has been banned in Berkeley bars for so long now, they no longer smell like smoke and you no longer go home with your clothes smelling like an ash tray. When you leave the Albatross, you smell like the fresh popcorn that gets popped all night long (put down a $1 and you get a bottomless bowl of popcorn for the evening to go with your beers).

    For dart players, this is the place to go in the East Bay. There are maybe 6 lanes, and they get well used on most nights. Come on Sunday for trivia night, but any day of the week you can choose from a selection of board games and other diversions. Bring your friends, bring your dog, order a pizza from a nearby pizzeria - it's hard to have a bad time at the Albatross.
