Revolution Bicycle (707-822-2562; 1360 G St) and Life Cycle Bike Shop (707-822-7755; 1593 G St; Mon-Sat) rent, service and sell bicycles.

Only in Arcata: borrow a bike from Library Bike (707-822-1122; www.arcata.com/greenbikes; 865 8th St) for a $20 deposit, which gets refunded when you return the bike - up to six months later! They’re beaters, but they ride. And hello - they’re basically free.
