  1. Lady and the Ivy League

    Blog: A Lady in London - 7 November 2009

I graduated from college five years ago this week. It’s hard to believe. I can't believe how quickly the time has passed. Thankfully, I had another chance to experience college, see my friends, and walk the grounds of my alma mater this weekend.

  2. Nursing on our Laurels

    Blog: thebeergeek.com - 25 October 2009

After our night (and early morning) at Novare Res, we were a bit slow to get moving on Saturday morning. I felt better than my little Spring Peeper but unfortunately, there was no sleeping in for either of us. We still had two more breweries in Maine before we headed back to Boston for [...]

  3. NEW New Plan!

    Blog: Half - 23 October 2009

Okay, so where to begin…Almost exactly 1 year ago the economic crisis stole my life. I was living it up in Madrid with amazing friends, teaching English, tour guiding for Sandeman’s New Madrid and working as the Program’s Coordinator for Club Ivy, helping Spanish students apply to study abroad in English speaking countries. Life was [...]

  4. What the Fluff

    Blog: No Borders - 27 September 2009

Somerville, Mass - As every native Bostonian knows...It takes Fluff, Fluff Fluff, to make a FluffernutterMarshmallow Fluff and lots of peanut butter.

  5. Let the People Sing

    Blog: No Borders - 20 September 2009

Cambridge, Mass - I'm pretty sure this is the first time I ever celebrated the autumnal equinox. But really, we spend much of the year looking forward to summer, then we luxuriate in the long sunny days. Why - when it's time for the seasons to change - should we let it slip away without a farewell?

  6. A Glimpse Of Boston

Blog: Curves and Levels - 17 July 2009

A five-hour drive through Quebec's Eastern Townships and the mountainous terrain of northern New England brings one from Montreal to the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts. It was my new proximity to the USA's eastern seaboard that led me to pay a brief visit in the late summer of 2007 Although two to three days doesn't give one much time delve too deeply into Boston's past, but just to arrive there and walk the town's center allows history to soak in by osmosis.

  7. Empty Nest Syndrome

    Blog: No Borders - 30 June 2009

Somerville, Mass - There has been a lot of activity in the back yard this week. A nice cardinal couple moved into the tree near the back door. We have named them Cardy-Girl (after the long-time owner and occupant of the pink house, a lady whose ghost certainly lurks in one form or another) and Daddy-O. The nest is high enough that you can't see inside, but this week it became apparent that the egg(s) had hatched. Those little peepers make quite a racket!

  9. Cheerio to John Hancock and co.

Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 23 June 2009

Last night was good. I met up with Eric in Harvard Square and we went to a shop called ‘Hootenanny’ which was deadly. I bought a t-shirt and a very smart Ben Sherman polo for a total of $90. Not the smartest move as that’s left me less than $25 a day for New York [...]

  10. Puts up a brick

Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 22 June 2009

I forgot to mention something that tickled me in the ‘Cheers’ gift shop the other night. They had baby bibs with the slogan ‘Even I don’t know my name’ on, thought it was good that I did. The purchase of the bus ticket to NYC tomorrow is first on my list today and after that it’s [...]

  11. A way of life

Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 21 June 2009

This is my 100th post, take a moment readers. Onwards. So much for my plan on the socks, I’ve caved on day 1. The problem is that it’s raining a lot so it’s a bit slippy for the flopsters but it’s also really hot, so in the interest of hygiene action had to be taken. Plus [...]

  12. Where everyone knows your name

Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 20 June 2009

Western Union are a right bunch of fly boy scammers! I owe my Dad £540 but I only got £465 in $ equivalent because of the fee they charge and then an exchange rate which they must have completely invented. I guess they know if you’re using them it’s because there are no other [...]

  13. New England

Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 20 June 2009

I didn’t get much kip last night, the weather was very clammy and I never do anyway when I know I’ve got to get up at unsuitable times. When I did get up at half 5 I realised I didn’t have time for a shower and had to roll hobo style. A brisk walk through [...]
