Lonely Planet review for Stata Center
Of all the funky buildings on the MIT campus, none has received more attention than this avant-garde edifice that was designed by architectural legend Frank Gehry. Like something out of Dr Seuss, the Stata Center for Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) is composed of whimsical, colorful shapes and tilting metallic towers. Pick up a map at the information desk for a self-guided tour of the public spaces. Or wander on your own to discover the hidden courtyards, multiple levels and light-filled spaces. If you are interested in the ongoing research taking place here, guided tours of the laboratories are available to the general public: submit your online request at least two weeks in advance.
