  1. A

    Sandy's Music

Bills itself as 'Cambridge's funkiest music shop.' Sandy is a quite a character: a DJ on the local folk radio program, self-proclaimed 'banjo maniac,' and purveyor of all things stringed, including acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, fiddles, basses, ukuleles and more. If you're into folk, stop by for the weekly Old Timey Jam (20:00 Monday).

    Cheapo Records

With tunes blasting out from its basement digs, Cheapo Records lures in music-lovers to browse through its huge selection of vinyl and decent selection of CDs. And yes, they really are cheap-o.

    Newbury Comics

Any outlet of this local chain is usually jam-packed with teenagers clad in black and sporting multiple piercings. Apparently these kids know where to find cheap CDs and DVDs. The newest alt-rock and the latest movies are on sale here, along with comic books, rock posters and other silly gags. No wonder everyone is having such a wicked good time. There are additional outlets in Quincy Market in the Downtown area and in the Garage in Harvard Sq.
