YMCA of Greater Boston
Lonely Planet review
The Village People were right: it is fun to stay at the YMCA. You get to use the gyms, indoor track, basketball and squash courts and swimming pool; and you get a hearty breakfast and free passes to various programs. Rooms (rented to both genders May to August but only to men the rest of the year) are small, with miniscule closets, tiny desks and why-bother bureaus. Stark, battered furnishings are on par with local hostels, but the place is pretty clean, in a locker-room sort of way. The staff is brusquely friendly and enthusiastically encourages the use of everything the Y has to offer. Discounted rates available for members.
