Performing Arts entertainment in Boston

  1. A

    Lily Pad

Lily Pad is a tiny space that fills up with music and performance art, whether it’s tango dancing, narrated jazz storytelling or a musical conversation between jazz piano and tap dance. You might also hear indie, avant-garde, folk and even chamber music. The space is stripped down – basically folding chairs in a room – which adds to the underground ambience.

Lily Pad is located in Inman Sq, a 15-minute walk north of Central Sq.

    American Repertory Theater

There isn’t a bad seat in the house at Harvard University’s Loeb Drama Theater, where the prestigious ART stages new plays and experimental interpretations of classics. Since 2008, Artistic Director Diane Paulus has encouraged a broad interpretation of 'theater', staging an interactive murder mysteries (Sleep No More), readings of novels in their entirety (Gatz) and robot operas (Death & the Powers).

  3. C

    Club Oberon

The second stage of the American Repertory Theatre, this black box is ideally suited for flashy song and dance performances and interactive, acrobatic theater. The long-running favorite is the Shakespearean disco, The Donkey Show, but you might also see Rocky Horror Live or Abbey Road: An Erotic, Thrilling Interpretation. Indeed, 'erotic' and 'thrilling' seem to be consistent themes across performances.
