The kind firefighters at Engine Company 50 work in a sweet 19th-century firehouse with the Freedom Trail passing close by. On most summer days, they open up one of the bays so that hot walkers have access to a vending machine that sells cold drinks, embedded in some old wooden lockers covered in departmental patches. Sit on the bench out front and admire the charming streetscape.
