Besides canoe and kayak rental, Charles River Canoe & Kayak offers classes and organized outings, including a Friday-night Barbecue Tour ($63 per person, 6:30pm Friday, May to August), which includes an introductory lesson, a paddle along the Charles and a barbecue on the shores of the river. From Harvard Sq, cross the Charles and walk west along the river bank for about 20 minutes. There is also a Newton branch.
