Bus

The Greyhound Bus Station (512-458-4463; www.greyhound.com; 916 E Koenig Lane) is located on the north side of town off I-35; take bus 7 (Duval) to downtown. More than 10 buses a day leave for San Antonio ($14, one to two hours).

Capital Metro (512-474-1200; www.capmetro.org) runs the extensive, free, tourist-oriented ’Dillo, or trolley-bus, service. The five daytime and two nighttime color-coded routes connect downtown, SoCo and UT.

Air

Bergstrom International Airport (512-530-2242; www.ci.austin.tx.us/austinairport) is off Hwy 71, southeast of downtown. The Airport Flyer (bus 100, $1) runs to downtown (7th St and Congress Ave) and UT (Congress Ave and 18th St) every 40 minutes or so. SuperShuttle (512-258-3826; www.supershuttle.com) charges $13 from the airport to downtown. A taxi between the airport and downtown costs from $20 to $25. Most of the national rental-car companies are represented at the airport.

Train

The Texas Eagle, heading from San Antonio to Chicago, stops at Austin’s Amtrak Station (512-476-5684; www.amtrak.com; 250 N Lamar Blvd). Take the silver ’Dillo east into downtown.
